Quest Software acquiert eXc Software
This is an interesting move. Remember, Quest bought Vintela, which delivered an agent-based solution for Linux monitoring. Coupled with the dev talent at eXc, maybe a mashup with a new agent-based solution results?
Anyway, I asked one of the eXc gang what changes we could expect in terms of support. eXc support is agile and basically awesome, and the Quest support machine somewhat lethargic in my experience. He assured me, business as ususal. Same contacts at eXc, same support, but now they'll have more resources at their avail….and hopefully a team of coders to work on some interesting new solutions….and maybe a sexy new eXc console!
Press release details:
Quest Software, Inc. recently purchased substantially all of the assets of eXc Software ("eXc"), including the software products that you have previously licensed from eXc. The qualities of eXc's team and products, as well as the strategic importance of the Quest System Center initiatives, were key factors in the decision to proceed with this acquisition.
Quest develops innovative products that help customers get more performance and productivity from their applications, databases, and Windows infrastructure. This includes extending the powerful capabilities of Microsoft System Center for complex, heterogeneous environments.
The eXc products will be included within the System Center offerings from Quest moving forward. A representative from your Quest account team will contact you shortly to share all of the new solution benefits available to you as a result of this acquisition. For Support and Services needs, please continue to leverage your current contact at eXc.
